US-China (Shanxi) Decentralized Energy & CHP Workshop

ECP and Shanxi Investment and Consulting Development Planning Institute (SICDPI under Shanxi DRC) led and cohosted a US-China (Shanxi) Decentralized Energy & CHP Workshop was successfully held in Taiyuan city on May 18 with a great support from many government agencies and industry partners from both US side and  China side. The workshop’s theme was development of US-China decentralized energy industry and policy. The workshop discussed key issues related to decentralized energy & CHP policy, technology and business model, including exploitation of decentralized energy and equipment production localization.

It attracted over 200 leaders: government officials, industry experts and leaders from both US and Chinese sides: National Energy Agency (NEA), Shanxi government agencies, US Trade and Development Agency (USTDA), US Department of Commerce (DOC), US Department of Energy (DOE), Commercial Service of US Embassy, Ork Ridge National lab, American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and Shanxi local stakeholders. 


ECP and SICDPI signed strategic partnership MOU and will support the clean energy and DECHP development in Shanxi. US and Chinese experts from leading research institutes and industry experts from ECP member companies and Chinese companies presented detailed reports regarding decentralized energy & CHP solution and projects. Topics covered during the workshop:  China DECHP development overview and outlook, US DECHP experience including keys to success & lessons learned, Shanxi DECHP development opportunity and challenges, and Shanxi local DECHP policy and pilot projects development and implementation.

ECP member companies, Cummins, Caterpillar, Dow, Johnson Controls, NuCloud Global, made presentations on their DECHP related solution and shared their successful experiences regarding decentralized energy development and suggestions to promote DECHP development in Shanxi.
